On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

 Okay i know what you're saying not another fanfic.  I promise i haven't abandoned my other stories and expect updates from a few this week but i just had to share this story.   i've been posting it somewhere else and people are loving it so i decided to post it here.  It's practically writing itself.  I've written six chapters in six days so at least you know there will be updates on this one.   Quite quickly so feedback is love.

The series is called Survival Tactics, and it follows Brian, Justin, and their family over a period of about 10 years. Particles is the first story in the series, and it picks up 12 years post-S5. Oh, and pretend that Mel and Linds never moved to Canada, 'kay? Either that or they returned soon after.

This fic involves Brian and Justin obtaining a child by means of a surrogate. If that turns you off in any way, this is where you stop reading.

Mon contrat a été prolongé jusqu'au 30 novembre donc pour twilight 2 ça sera en week end ou le jeudi soir à partir de 18h, reste à savoir qui ça arrange. Jess, faudrait louer le premier (france loisir m'a d'ailleurs fait hurler de rire avec leur magnifique présentation du coffret collector ultime dans une zoli boite (un cercueil aurait été plus marrant, mais bon, hein, twilight quoi) un de ces jours.
Donc je vais continuer un peu à bosser, c'est cool d'avoir un jour férié dans la semaine. Enfin c qui est chiant, c'est que je peux lire jusqu'à tard et glander tranquile et que je n'ai absolument rien d'intéressant à lire sous peine de me remettre à relire encore et encore les mêmes choses -_-. Le fandom Stargate est hélas en train de donner qq signes de faiblesses (snif ç_ç). d'ailleurs c'est la derniere année pour les awards sur les fics de la série, c'est trop triste.
